Commitment. Experience. Diligence.

History

Total Control Systems is a small LLC that handles large and complex projects. We have extensive experience in complex controls that we feel is about the best in the industry. This is because all experience is our personal experience and not that of prior engineers of a consulting firm. We have experience in all aspects of control systems but have been concentrating on bridge control systems since 1985.

The Team

President, co-Owner & Project Engineer

Evan Marchetti

Evan Marchetti joined Total Control Systems in 2017 as Technical Manager and Project Engineer and became President and Co-Owner in 2019. In his short time with TCS as a project engineer, Evan has developed a wealth of engineering experience, including numerous movable bridge inspections, design and implementation of control system enhancements, cellular communications systems integration for remote monitoring and troubleshooting of moveable bridge control systems, variable frequency drive configuration and commissioning, and control systems troubleshooting.

Prior to joining TCS, Evan served for 12 years as a commissioned officer and pilot in the United States Air Force. Qualified in the Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk and Bell UH-1Y Venom, Evan flew over 400 combat sorties in multiple theaters. He also served as Assistant Operations Officer, Officer-in-Charge of Standardization and Evaluations, Plans and Exercises, and Flight Scheduling. His organizational skills, developed through diverse leadership and management experience, enhance TCS’s productivity.

co-Owner & Senior Project Engineer

Jeff Marchetti, PE

Jeff Marchetti joined Total Control Systems in 2014 as a project engineer and prior to that worked as an independent consultant to the company since its incorporation in 2005.

Jeff specializes in PLC and relay control systems and has designed systems for movable bridges and attractions. In addition to control system design, Jeff has performed numerous bridge inspections, written O&M manuals, performed peer review, and provided troubleshooting services.

co-Owner & Senior Project Engineer

Rich Marchetti

Rich Marchetti joined Total Control Systems in 2014 as a project engineer specializing in electrical drive and control systems for heavy moveable structures. Since that time, Rich has performed over 20 moveable bridge and ferry slip electrical inspections and has been involved in several conceptual designs and peer reviews for bridge and ferry slip rehabilitations. He also has considerable experience in emergency troubleshooting and repair of operational issues of moveable bridges and ferry slips, and to-date has a perfect track record in solving these issues.

In addition to his work in design, peer review, and troubleshooting, Rich has instructed bridge maintenance personnel on the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical drive and control systems. He has also written detailed operation and maintenance manuals for moveable bridges and ferry slips.

Prior to working for TCS, Rich was a commissioned officer in the Air Force and was the Lead Project Engineer for the GPS IIF Satellite Program at LA Air Force Base Space and Missile Center. In this role, he provided key leaders with engineering analysis in design and troubleshooting of satellite subsystems during integration, pre-launch, launch, and operation of GPS IIF satellites.

In mid-2014, Rich was deployed under International Security Forces Afghanistan as Foreign Military Sales Officer, where he advised Afghan National Army General Staff on procurement and employment of U.S. weapon systems.

Lead Electrical Engineer

Dennis Marchetti, PE

Mr. Dennis Marchetti has over 40 years of electrical engineering experience specializing in the inspection, design, and construction of heavy movable structure control systems. Examples of these include movable highway and railroad bridges, ferry slips and portions of theme park attractions. His experience includes the design, testing, and manufacturing of control systems, and construction inspection and supervision for the installation of these systems.  It also includes troubleshooting, emergency response to failures, maintenance assistance and training.

Mr. Marchetti is thoroughly familiar with all types of control systems used, from legacy manual and semi-magnetic systems to state-of-the-art programmable logic and automation controllers (PLC & PAC), vector drives, AC, DC and servo systems, motion controllers, data acquisition, and event recorder systems.  He is experienced in various types of shaft motion feedback, including tachometers typically used for thyristor drives, encoders, Hall sensors and resolvers typically used for variable speed, vector and solid state DC drives and positioning, and encoder-less installations, as well as centrifugal speed switches and electronic methods of overspeed and deceleration failure detection. Mr. Marchetti is also adept in preparing Operations and Maintenance (O & M) manuals and providing training. Mr. Marchetti has also performed research on a number of projects for expert witness.
